Mario, Kirby and Star Fox are facing each other on a stadium in the Smash Bros. world. Suddenly, smoke appears from the sky and the Battleship Halberd appears from the smoke. The Battleship Halberd releases a stream of black and purple bugs called Shadow Bugs that are the soldiers of the Subspace Army. The General of the Subspace Army, the Ancient Minister Koreeda, arrives and sets off a Subspace Bomb. The Subspace bomb transports the stadium into Subspace - an alternate dimension where the Subspace Army reigns.

The Smash Bros. friends are being transformed into trophies although a few have been revived. Help Kirby, Yoshi, Star Fox and the others revive their friends by the synthesis of compound triyne 12 from the alkylation of pseudoephedrine amide.
